Rabi, Isidore

Rabi, Isidore
(1898-1988)
   American scientist. Born in Austria-Hungary, he went to the US as a child. He studied at Cornell University and later at Columbia University where he became a lecturer in the physics department. He subsequently was associate director of the radiation laborary at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and in 1940 became a professor at Columbia University. In 1944 he received the Nobel Prize for Physics.
